Never Forget the One | Pt.4

As believers, we have been called, commissioned, and commanded.

Called by God.
Commissioned by Christ.
Commanded to love people.

That is not just the responsibility of pastors or church leaders. It is the assignment of every follower of Jesus.

When Jesus said, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men,” He was showing us what a disciple looks like. A disciple cares about what Jesus cares about. A disciple values what Jesus values. A disciple never forgets the people Jesus came to save.

The challenge is that many of us allow excuses to keep us from fulfilling that assignment.

We tell ourselves we are too busy. We do not know enough Scripture. We do not have the right personality. We assume someone else will reach the people around us.

But excuses never move the Kingdom of God forward.

The truth is that God has already placed us in a harvest field. Our workplace is a harvest field. Our neighborhood is a harvest field. Our hobbies, friendships, and everyday relationships are opportunities to point people toward Christ.

The people I can reach may be different from the people you can reach, but every one of us has influence.

Jesus gave us a simple command: Love one another as He has loved us.

That kind of love notices people.
That kind of love reaches out.
That kind of love refuses to give up.

Many people are carrying burdens that no one else sees. They feel forgotten, rejected, lonely, and hopeless. They are waiting for someone to show them that God cares.

Sometimes that begins with an invitation.

Sometimes it begins with a conversation.

Sometimes it begins with simply being willing to see the one that everyone else overlooks.

I am grateful for people who refused to forget me and my family. Their faithfulness changed our future. One invitation led us to church. One pastor continued pursuing someone others had given up on. One act of obedience made an eternal difference.

That reminds me that every person matters to God.

This week, ask God to give you a burden for the people around you. Ask Him to help you see opportunities that you might otherwise miss. Refuse to make excuses. Be ready to share your story. Be willing to invite someone into a relationship with Christ.

Never forget the one.

You never know how one conversation, one invitation, or one act of love may impact someone's eternity
