Courage, Excellence, and Integrity
Leadership is not developed by position. It is developed by character.
Scripture teaches us in 2 Peter 1 that we are to add to our faith. Faith alone is not enough. If we are going to be effective in life and leadership, we must build on it. We must develop the qualities that produce strength, stability, and influence.
We are not called to get saved and sit. We are called to get saved and serve.
There are qualities that must be present in a leader’s life. When they are not developed, people become spiritually blind. They lose sight of what God has done. They lose hope for the future. And when hope is lost, strength for today is lost with it.
Hope in the future gives power for the present. Faith works best when it is accompanied by thanksgiving. A leader who is thankful will remain strong. A leader who is unthankful will drift.
Courage, Excellence, and Integrity
Virtue is made up of three things: courage, excellence, and integrity.
Courage is firmness of spirit. It does not flinch in difficulty. It does not retreat under pressure. Courage faces what is in front of it and moves forward anyway. David did not run from the giant. He ran toward it.
Without courage, faith will not work.
Excellence is the result of doing things God’s way with consistency. It is not occasional effort. It is a standard. Daniel was elevated because he had an excellent spirit. There was no fault found in him because he was faithful.
Integrity is what holds everything together. It is who you are when no one is watching. It is when your walk and your talk line up. It is choosing what is right, not what is convenient.
Character matters. Image is what people think you are. Character is what God knows you are.
The Power of Purpose and Discipline
A leader must have a clear purpose. Without it, life becomes reactive instead of intentional.
Your purpose will shape your future. What you allow into your life will either strengthen or weaken that purpose. An excellent spirit disciplines itself. It does not allow the world to shape its thinking. It chooses what it watches, what it listens to, and what it feeds on.
Leaders walk in love. They walk in forgiveness. They control their words. They speak with wisdom. They live by faith.
When you add virtue to your faith, you begin to run your race effectively. You gain momentum. You develop endurance. And you finish what God has called you to do.
Integrity Determines Direction
Who you are determines what you do.
Integrity guides decisions. It sets priorities. It determines what you accept and what you reject. It shapes how you respond to conflict. It affects your thoughts, your words, and your actions.
Integrity produces security, peace, and contentment.
Talent may open doors, but character keeps you there.
When you miss it, integrity responds quickly. It repents and gets back in alignment. It does not justify wrong. It corrects it.
Integrity is not optional for leadership. It is required.
Knowledge Builds Strong Faith
Faith must be built on knowledge.
You cannot truly believe in someone you do not know. Knowledge of God is not information. It is relationship. It is personal. It is developed over time.
Many people follow God for what He can do. But real leadership is built by those who follow Him for His Word.
Faith grows as you hear. But it becomes effective when you act on what you know.
Believing is faith in operation.
The more you know God, the more you trust Him. The more you trust Him, the more you commit to Him. And the more you commit, the more you see Him work in your life.
The Result of a Developed Life
When these qualities are developed, your life will not be idle. It will not be unfruitful. You will have influence. You will impact others. You will walk in stability and strength.
You will not fall.
God will bring to pass what He has promised as you learn to commit your way to Him and trust Him fully.
Leadership is not about talent. It is about development.
Add to your faith. Build your character. Walk with God.
That is how a leader is made.
