Organize Tomorrow Today:
Leading with the Right Priorities
God calls and equips you to lead, but you’ve got to be intentional. In this season, more than ever, we’re all facing pressure and stress in our daily lives and leadership. The question is—will that stress be destructive or constructive?
I want to help you today with something that’s changed my life and leadership: getting the right priorities in place.
One of the best resources I’ve found is a book called Organize Tomorrow Today by Dr. Jason Selk. He coached me personally for a year and spoke at our Marketplace Ministry for business leaders. This book is filled with gold—and the whole idea is this:
Start each day with more focus, confidence, and energy by learning how to set priorities.
Let me say it again because it’s that important:
Start each day with more focus, confidence, and energy.
Order Brings Multiplication
God is not the author of confusion. He’s a God of order. And listen—order comes before multiplication. When our lives are out of order, it leads to disorder…and that creates stress.
If you want peace in the middle of pressure, calm in the middle of chaos, you’ve got to simplify your life. That begins by putting your priorities in order. I like to say:
Schedule your priorities to the life you want to live.
Not the emergencies. Not the chaos. Your priorities. Because your priorities are rooted in your core values, and they determine your decisions.
My Core Priorities
Let me walk you through my top five priorities, and maybe it’ll help you define yours:
1. Faith
My number one priority is my relationship with God. That means every day starts in His Word. I don’t ask myself, “Will I read my Bible today?” That decision’s already been made. Prayer, church, scripture, confessions—it's part of my daily routine because faith is my foundation.
2. Family
My wife Kim and I have been married over 50 years. And every Friday, we have a date. Even with an empty nest, we still protect that time—because family is a priority. When my kids were young, Saturdays were for them. I had invitations to travel the world and preach, but I said no because I wasn’t willing to gain the world and lose my family.
3. Fitness
If I don’t have energy, I can’t lead. If I’m not healthy, I can’t fulfill my calling. I work out five days a week, I eat clean, I read uplifting material every day, and I don’t waste time on negative input. Mental and physical fitness fuel your leadership.
4. Finances
I want to leave a legacy, take care of my family, and give to the Kingdom of God. Financial peace brings freedom—and freedom brings options. I don’t have to pray every week about tithing. That decision’s made because generosity is a priority.
5. Future
I believe the best is yet to come. But I also know that my future is hidden in my daily habits. Delayed gratification, discipline, and focus today unlock what God has for me tomorrow. Your future shows up in what you’re doing right now.
You Won’t Do It All—But You Can Do What Matters
Let me encourage you:
The most successful people don’t get everything done every day—but they get the most important things done.
Some days, all I did was pray and study God’s Word, and my flesh told me it wasn’t productive. But you know what? It was the most productive thing I could have done. When I spend time with God, the rest of the day flows with peace, purpose, and power.
Final Thoughts
If your life feels out of balance, don’t try to fix everything at once. Start by identifying your core values, then let those values define your priorities, and let your priorities guide your daily decisions.
Get things in order—and watch how God begins to multiply your time, your peace, and your impact.
Remember this:
God is for you—and the best is yet to come.
Until next time, stay focused, stay faithful, and keep leading strong.
