Our Leadership Depends on Our Development
Leadership doesn’t happen by accident. It grows out of discipline, development, and dependence on God. If I stop growing, I stop leading. I can’t take people where I’m not willing to go myself.
The Value of Discipline
Hebrews 12 tells us that God’s discipline may not be pleasant, but it produces righteousness in our lives. Discipline isn’t fun, but it is fruitful. If I refuse God’s correction today, I’m postponing my future.
I must master myself before I can lead anyone else. I can’t run from hard situations; I have to learn everything God wants me to learn at this level before He promotes me to the next. My exit determines my entering.
Sow a Seed
Philippians 4:12 reminds us to be content in every circumstance. Leadership means living seed-focused, not need-focused. If I’m focused only on my needs, I’ll always lack. But when I focus on sowing seeds—faith, obedience, generosity—I create a harvest.
If I’m not sowing, I’m not growing. Expectancy matters. If I expect nothing, I’ll receive nothing. But if I keep sowing, God promises a return.
Think Big
Ephesians 3:20 says God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we ask or think. It’s not about what we can afford, it’s about what we can believe. If we can think it, God can do it.
Great leaders think bigger than themselves. They see beyond today. They dream God-sized dreams because they know it’s His power working in them.
Final Thoughts
Leadership rises and falls on our development. The moment I stop growing, I stop leading. Discipline shapes my future, sowing seeds determines my harvest, and thinking big expands my influence. God wants us to lead with vision, with faith, and with courage. Knowing He is able to do more than we could ever imagine.
If we keep developing ourselves, we won’t just lead people. We’ll lead them closer to Christ.
